Whaleboy and Lighting Techniques
We started the lesson with a quick exercise where we were given a black blob and we had to light it where we thought necessary. I tried to convey some matte lighting as well as some shiny textured lighting. We then had a speed paint of a Bobby Chiu piece called Whaleboy; we started by using large flat colours to block in shape with reference from a tiny photo and then added in some shade and light and noticeable detail and were then given a large high quality photo of the piece to use as reference for adding fine detail. I only managed to get to the low detail character and I tried to work on the colours and face more than anything.
