Life Drawing - Session 19

Today was our final session and due to some of the students in our class finding it offensive to draw a fully naked model, we were assigned to draw the model with clothes on in today's session. It was at the least interesting and useful to have one session where this was the case, although I feel if it was consistently the case it would become somewhat pointless as I use life drawing sessions to be able to draw natural form where I would not usually get the chance to draw this type of thing. I could potentially draw clothed people whenever I wanted as there's more chance to do that than draw anyone unclothed.

Either way, we started with 6 fast drawings of the clothed model and It was interesting to draw clothes from eye. For the rest of the session's drawings we spent a longer period of time on them and I found it fairly equally challenging yet fun/ interesting to sketch as we were allowed to focus on detail and accuracy. The model changed into a bath robe for one of the sketches and then we were tasked to draw him without a shirt but wearing trousers for the last two drawings.

I feel as though it would be incredibly useful if we were to carry on life drawing sessions next year. I feel this way because it always help to improve our skill by regularly drawing from real life, but it can be hard to find the motivation or time to do so, so having a set period of time to do it really helps to push us to do it etc. Even if we have a model clothed and then unclothed alternate weeks or if we have it not as regularly as the first year, every other week or something along those lines.
