Onesheets, Maps and Storyboard
We have been assigned a brief to make a walking simulator/ short tutorial level for a game. within the game there must be at least 3 events and the whole piece must last 2-3 minutes. We started with an exercise in class where we chose 2 words at random from a box in groups of 3/4 and had to design a Onesheet for a game that involved the two words. In my group we chose 'Timetravel' and 'Museum', this was a lucky choice as we were already given a scene and something that had to happen within that scene. We chose to create a first person crime adventure game for PC.
We then had to create our own onesheet for our actual game Idea, I thought about several ideas such as escaping an airship or walking down a road at night but decided to design a game based in an asylum in the 1950's. Once the onesheet was complete we then had to generate a storyboard and a map design for the game. I started by making a floorplan map and then went on to create a dimensional map to communicate my ideas better.

Nice work. Your 4 pillars aren't great but the idea feels sound. The drawn content is good, communicating well. It might be tricky communicating to the player that they are seeing their own body while continually being in a first person view, so have a think about how to solve that issue. Overall though, good start.
ReplyDeleteHey there, honestly I wasn't too sure as to what I should have written for the 4 pillars, I'm aware that its supposed to represent 4 things in the game that are definite but I couldn't think of any decent ones that made sense for my game? I was also wondering if I could possibly have reflective surfaces in the game that the player could see their character in if its necessary and relevant to the gameplay and story? If that's not possible, could I use voice over for the characters thoughts/ a picture of the character in his file or something? Worse comes to worse I could just add a more detailed description into the notes scattered around, about his death and where he died etc. that the player finds out as they get further into the level. Thank you for the feedback!
