Life Drawing - Session 02

Wednesday 30th September 2015
Life Drawing Session 2
In this session we started out with a new male model and 5 short drawings as a warm up and again I found myself doing lesser quality drawings at the start of the session.
We then tried 3 slightly longer drawings, but instead of using our dominant to draw we used our opposite hand (Mine being left). Funnily enough I found that my drawings slightly improved in standard both to the technique of having to make small marks on the paper to get smooth natural lines and possibly the change of poses from the model. However, drawing with my left hand did make my arm ache a fair amount as I'm not used to it and I was pushing hard against the easel as I concentrated.
After this exercise, we drew a large drawing of the model and then moved to another persons easel to improve or draw on their work what we saw; my original drawing was much the same, although someone did change the position of the legs and a lot more detail was added on and around the figure including a face and a chair. I found changing other people's drawings fairly easy, adjusting lengths and shapes of body parts when necessary and in one case changing a large part of the proportions in one piece of work (Having to rub out the majority of the original lines).
To finish off the class we did one more drawing of our choice and I chose to use my right hand to see if I'd improved again and I think an improvement was made since the beginning of the session.
